Hello!
We're glad you're here! We are a six generation Hoosier Homestead farm family. Our farm was established in 1841 and was originally a primarily sheep and hog farm. In 2020 we decided to get back to our family core values and bring back livestock and a balanced farm ecosystem to our land.

Our Story
Our farm was started in 1841 by Chris' great-great grandfather J.W. Yoke who married Isabella Moore. It was originally a 600 acre farm and at it's peak was 1000 acres. Meadowdale Farm was the cornerstone of the local community. It provided the grain scale to the locals and the family did much to help the community in every way possible. The Yoke and Moore family were both very involved in the beginnings of the community of Indianapolis and the surrounding areas.
Chris & Vicky purchased the farm from his mother in 2012 and over the past many years have renovated and brought back the farm to as close to the way it was over 100 years ago. They stopped growing corn and beans rotations in the fields surrounding the house in order to do better for the soil and environment. The plan was to create a balanced ecosystem and also provide true working line dogs with their love for Border Collies. They brought back livestock to the land for the first time since the 1950's, focusing on Icelandic Sheep and raising Border Collies. An area was setup for a small orchard and a fruit and berry area. A large vegetable garden was always part of their lives and in late 2024 a hoop house will be constructed over this garden to extend the growing seasons.

Today they have Icelandic Sheep, Angora Goats, Kunekune Pigs, Sam the guard Llama, and a mix of Chickens (providing fresh eggs to the community) in the pasture. Of course also their ABCA Border Collies and a handful of barn cats.

In 2022 they sadly had to take down the original large wood barn due to termite damage and a new pole barn was built. The decision was made to convert a small area of that barn for people to stay and experience life on the farm. Today there is a thriving VRBO / Airbnb business and many people stay in a private area and get to experience nature, peace & quiet and their animals.

They participate in local farmers markets with fresh produce, eggs, Icelandic lamb and their handmade items.
